Mushroom/watercress sandwiches... #1 #2 #3 The light on my chopping board, in my kitchen, is just wretched but, for some reason, food always looks gorgeous right there. So, I used my tripod and had to diffuse the light from the window and, then, on #2 and 3, I used the gold side of the reflector... also, the background is really messy so I had to go in close. I have more ideas for this for later - different settings, etc. I'm anxious because I've posted a lot, the last couple of days. Hope you don't mind... but, still, Thanks!

Disgusting! ugh...but then I am allergic to mushrooms so it wouldn't at all be appealing to me ;D When I was in my first trimester-pregnant with Lliam (my oldest), I read a Dorothy L. Sayers book - "Documents in the Case". The husband was murdered by mushroom. Obviously, they kept going on and on about it and, me being in the state of queasy exhaustion that I was, I couldn't look at a mushroom for years. Over it, now, though.

Alright, that's bad jou-jou! I've got to get this back into a palatable vein of thought, here. I sauteed the very healthy mushrooms in butter and, then, added a little white wine - salt and pepper - put on crusty bread with watercress and press till it creaks.

They are all looking very nice again Katy.
I like number 1 the best as it shows the whole sandwich in context with the plate, knife etc. I am not sure about the scraps on the chopping board though as they are just a little bit distracting away from the food itself.

That first one is so jummy! Absolutely great!
It has everything: great lighting, composition( low angle, close to the plate, cut some parts), excellent textures of the bread and mushrooms.
The composition is nice and busy and everything fits to the image. Maybe you could reduce the green parts left of the knive a bit to draw even more attention to the sandwich.

These look good Katy...are those mushrooms psilocybe semilanceata...its no wonder your photography has improved so much and certainly explains the use of colour in your bluebell shots...far out man. And, real bread. I must say I didn't think they had real bread in the US. When I have been over there it all appeared to be manufactured from styrofoam. You will be telling me you have cheese that does not come out of a jar next I still feel that you are not getting quite enough light onto these subjects. There is a crispness missing and they still look a little muted but so very nearly there and the composition in the first two is great

You will be telling me you have cheese that does not come out of a jar next Oh, my god! (and I don't say that often, at all! ) Are you joking? ?!!!!!!! I live in VERMONT! We have, at least, a handful of gorgeous artisinal cheesemakers that are just a hop, skip and jump from where we live and that barely begins to cover it. I mean, we have our own Williams Sonoma page! www.williams-sonoma.com/products/vermont-cheese-collection/?pkey=cfood-cheeseRemember.... a dairy state! Local cheeses! eesh and buhruuuuuhther!

Nice heifers!! I see a glass of wine. You'll be trying to convince us that you are a wine producing state next!!! ;D ;D Well..... shelburnevineyard.com/This was taken just down the road - three minutes before getting to the wine tasting - a rehearsal dinner at the vineyards for a wedding. How the wine measures up to the greater world of wines....I don't know... (need to fix this image, still. )
