Just a quick HELLO Seri. It is great to have you back. I will catch up when I can sneak away from life for 5 minutes. My fish have joined a union thanks to you and are now picketing the bathroom.

Hi Seri, welcome to the forum, I will catch up with you more after the weekend as I'm also off to bed soon as I have had a long day with a even longer day tomorrow supporting 12 motorcycles we have entered into the Welsh 2 day international enduro.

Just a quick HELLO Seri. It is great to have you back. I will catch up when I can sneak away from life for 5 minutes. My fish have joined a union thanks to you and are now picketing the bathroom. You brought it on yourself, you know. Just be thankful that you don't have a full scale revolution on your hands And anyway, you have a garden, don't you? I believe Mallow leaves are nice and soft if you happen to have a spare plant or two hanging around... Thanks for the welcome, and looking forward to all future encounters Cheers, Seri

Hi Seri, welcome to the forum, I will catch up with you more after the weekend as I'm also off to bed soon as I have had a long day with a even longer day tomorrow supporting 12 motorcycles we have entered into the Welsh 2 day international enduro. Hi Barry, I've been looking through lots of past threads and had already realised just how busy you are. I've not had enough sleep myself lately, and I think it must be causing slight hallucinations. When you mentioned 'supporting 12 motorcycles' I suddenly saw your avatar, raising six on each wing, weight-lifting style I'm now wondering if you're a Biker or a mechanic... But either way, thanks so much for the welcome, and I also look forward to catching up with you later, Cheers, Seri

Seri, I am so remiss in proffering my welcome back as well!!!! When you posted on my thread, it was like a warm breeze blew through. You have such a unique, lyrical and welcome way of expressing yourself.

Marie, it was great to come back and find so many lovely people like yourself still on the forum, and you have no idea how much it meant to me to wake up this morning and read your post I usually write words down as I think them, so it's always direct emotional response to a photo. And I do tend to state some quite forthright personal views. But I'm one of those basically shy people who come over as far more confident than I really am, and after I post I sometimes fret about whether I've expressed myself clearly, or hurt anyone's feelings (the greatest sin in my books) so it was so good to hear that you like the way I write (For someone who writes largely without editing - barring grammar and punctuation- I do edit my posts later, quite a lot, but that's because I've noticed something like a spelling mistake or even an rogue apostrophe out of place ;D I don't know why I do that at all....I just don't want to live in a world without apostrophes!) Cheers, Marie, and I so look forward to seeing more fireflies Seri

Hi Joe, Thanks so much for the lovely welcome and the heart-warming compliments I'm really glad Marie asked about your guitar. That's a fine bit of wood on the body. Is it a kind of burr wood? And what kind of music do you play? I'm still a beginner at photography too. I should be much further along since I've been at it for about three years now, but I'm a slow learner. Like you, I love the quality of the input here. So refreshing to find one of the very few places on the net where people give honest critiques and say so much more than just "Wow!" ;D. I think it combines fun and learning in a really satisfying way. I'm still struggling to find something to post at the moment. I went out yesterday and took around a 100 photos at the harbour, but all seem wanting. I'll probably post something later and ask what *could* have been done to make it better..... Just before rejoining I spent a few days looking at everyone's past work, and ended up trying to do ID's as well, which I love to do. You posted a couple of flowers a while back, and at first I thought one was a kind of thistle, as George did, but now I'm thinking it might be a knapweed instead. It's a great view of the flower head, but really hard to tell from that angle, so if you'd like to send me a portrait of it from the side, I'll be able to ID it -within limits- for certain. As for that gorgeous blue flower that was coming through your fence, I'm pretty sure I have a positive ID on that one: Duranta repens - sometimes called 'D. erecta' (blue form). The 'repens' is Latin for “creeping” and it’s considered an invasive plant in many parts of the world, so expect to see more of it in future ;D. There’s a debate still going on as to whether it’s native to Texas or introduced. I've been mooching around the Cafe since waking this morning, waiting for the first (and last!) coffee of the day to work so that I can write a couple of promised emails that will make some sense, so I'm off now It's been a pleasure meeting you too. And I'll not take against you just because my ex is also a musician called Joe ;D Cheers, Seri

Thanks Seri! The wod on my bass is Thuya Burl on a ash body. There is a thin sheet(accent piece) of figured maple in between the body and top wood. The neck is maple and the fingerboard is Macasar Ebony. The faux pickguard is figured maple. Plays and sounds great. I currently play in a rock cover band, but I have a fondness for Jazz. I will have to try to find another "knapweed" to photograph. Thanks for the id on the blue flower. Its definately a creeper type. Thanks for giving me some of your time.

Ah Joe, you say ‘burl’ and we say ‘burr” And my, but you’ve got evidence of half a forest in there I just had to go and look up Thuya Burl because I’d never heard of it before. Morrocan, very expensive, forms on the roots of trees that died long ago, and must be unearthed from underground. You’re lucky to have such a fine piece as it’s getting very hard to import these days. Macassar Ebony, great for turning, hell to work Also extremely expensive. Hope you have good fire insurance Figured Maple = Les Paul! And several different basic kinds (I only knew of Birds Eye Maple before). Not exactly cheap either. My best mate from the US is a luthier and wood carver, and I love wood with a passion, but will restrain myself from going on about it as it would never end I'm really glad it plays so well and I'm not going to even begin to try and work out how much that guitar cost Thanks for that, Joe. I’m off to the Land of Nod now and am going to be extremely disciplined. I’m not going to post again until I have a photo worth sending in too. Sadly my harbour shots were rubbish, and there were no pomegranates at all in Town yesterday..... Oh, one last thing (because I can’t live without music) - what covers do you do? Night, night, Seri
