Hooray, Marie! Am delighted that you are free to make pictures again! Love the colour contrasts in these--especially red on green, yellow on purple, pink on teal green.
I hope you have a great Memorial Day weekend and don't overdo.

Thanks, Jan. I am glad you like them.
You have a wonderful weekend as well. Give Stella a kiss on the nose for me.

Marie, so glad to see you back again – and thanks for posting these.
I like all these. With #1 I wonder if it would stand a closer crop – just to emphasis the point of interest and the beautiful colour transitions? #3 is my favourite – purple and yellow is a killer combo. With #5 – again I wonder if it would stand a closer crop to emphasis the frozen bits?

Dear Nick,
Thank you for your input! On #1, the hydrangea, I did try a crop, but did not like it quite so well. Feel free to edit my pictures. I would be interested to see your perspective.
On #5, what I found was that with all of the reflection and lack of real contrast, the camera had a difficult time producing a really sharp image, so when I crop I am disappointed. Maybe I am not processing my images correctly?
I did find another image that was closer and did not require a significant crop.
ugh. after I posted it, it looked terrible. I will try to reprocess.
cheers,

As for crops – here are some suggestions – likely I've chopped too much for you to use them for real – so more for discussion purposes. Or

Nick, how interesting that your crop choice of my hydrangea offers a whole new perspective! Now, my eye slides from top to bottom, right to left and down out the bottom left of the frame. Nice!
Yes, I see that that the rose image does not suffer with a tighter crop. I usually leave my images at 300 resolution, so they don't lose much by further cropping.
Thanks for sharing your edits. I like them.

It is my lavender. It is not quite in bloom, yet, but it glows this lovely blue/purple.

Ah, ha! Thought so, but my botanical knowledge is none too reliable.

This is a picture of the whole bed. It is full of daylilies, lavender, echinacea and daisies (plus yard art). It will start to bloom in a month. _MG_2138_edited-1 by mariehass, on Flickr 'Rie
