In terms of democracy this decision smacks of His Royal Tonyness but as Chris rightly points out the replies indicate a definite sway to gray. I have now added the Portal to the live forum. If the colour gets on everyone's....after a while we can change pretty easily now since all the images are .png with transparent backgrounds.
I cant be certain but I think i have fixed the IE issues for pretty much everyone although because XP is no longer updated/supported by MS there may be a couple of residual problems that cannot be solved. Please let me know if the page is unusable.
IE and Camino users should no longer see ugly white borders around images and controls. I cant be certain because I have only tested on Camino which shows similar tendencies as IE. I will back fit this fix this fix into the forum tables.
This is a beta trial so we are not stuck with it. Let me have your views and I will try to accommodate any reasonable changes but No pink and no animated gifs

As you know I'm using Win XP. With Chrome (my normal browser) I see the portal page fine, but can scroll down a long way with just a gray background, then I can come back up to the main page, no white borders and everything looks great.
Using IE8, I get the portal page, but if I scroll down I then come to the forum.

Here is another screenshot from IE8 showing the portal page and forum below it, I have purposely reduced the screen size to get everything in.

I though I had sussed it..ah well Chrome is fine, it is just the fact that a scroll bar appears on the right hand side of the Portal page to indicate that there may be more content below, but there isn't. Other than that it seems fine.

Barry I am a bit confused, when do you get the page that does not allow you to log in is it when you hit the bookmark? Also the screen cap showing the forum below the portal page..how did you get in to view that?

From the Portal page, I clicked on 'Join the Discussion' and then the 'Login' button along top menu. Also the screen cap showing the forum below the portal page..how did you get in to view that? By following this link fstop-cafe.proboards.com/index.cgi

Ah I see. I am slow tonight. I have put a code requesting to the proboards support now so we will have to see if they can come up with something.

Barry, the response from the support team is as follows; If I was to take a guess, I would say they appear to have Javascript disabled. I was unable to reproduce the error using IE 7 / IE 8 / IE 9 / Chrome / Firefox / Opera.
Is this possible Barry? or maybe java updates not installed? Cheers Steve

So maybe that is the problem especially if no one else seems to be having a problem. But as I don't use IE8 it is not a problem for me.

Cheers Barry, I have sent you a PM. The biggest concern I have is that potential members may get stuck at the portal page.
