An older shot (taken this time last year), re-visited it and re-processed it. Removed green cast, electric overheads and cropped square...Thanks Robert (rjbell)

The white balance is off, you have a green cast. I would like to see a square crop and the phone line and post removed.

Thanks Robert, I will have a look at the WB. Never thought of a square crop, I think it would suit this nicely, I'll be back .

I thought your crop didn't allow for enough look out room, so cropped it tighter off left side. Also had to do some rotation and distortion control to get a gcorrect. horizontal and vertical axis. Love the color tone and congrats of a great cloning job.

Cheers Chris Not sure about the new crop, it looks a bit tight now, but thanks for keeping it square ;D

I like the edited square version, well worth the effort involved in getting rid of those cables and post. Making for a nice warm image in cold conditions.

Oh no. Not square at all. Rectangle is better. In square format doesn't fit the scenario/landscape and does not contextualize the house. With the rectangle you see the curve of the lake, the ice and so on. Excellent work with cloning. I wish I could do it that good myself The image would be even better with the left tree cloned. Electricity poles with it of course

Cheers Chris Not sure about the new crop, it looks a bit tight now, but thanks for keeping it square ;D I would have left more room to the right in the edit if there had been more in the cloned version...but alas, t'was not. I am more inclined along Antonio's thinking this should be more rectangular...it definitely needs more look out room and doesn't benefit from anything to the left of the structure. I would take it up to theose green markers for the rectangular crop.

Well... I like "square" for the abstract quality it gives with the building and its reflection. I like "rectangular" for the placement of the boathouse in context in the landscape.
But which one do I like the best ? ......there's only one way to find out.....
And for those who watch Harry Hill ...........................FIGHT!!!!! ;D ;D
(sorry - a UK TV joke)

I think its all about the reflection, the square is right for this one.

I'll jump into the fray. Firstly, I remember liking this several months ago but you've done something even better to it, I think. I love the detail and the luminosity to the colors - so clear. It almost looks like it has the "Jiro effect" (a layer of B&W silver efex pro) but I'm wondering with you if it's a beautifully light touch of HDR? I'm asking because I always wonder how others get this smooth, lush look. I like the first edit - poles and all. The green cast gives it, almost, a grungy look, too. Simply a different feel. I love the second edit that you did, Rob - uber lush (as one of my friends says. Again, a more quaint feel but really lovely. Whichever - you have a lovely, well taken image, here.

Thanks all, for your comments. It just shows that everyone has different taste, and it has been interesting to hear everyones views. Luckily, the one thing I can take away is the agreement that the image is "OK", and it is the presentation (crop format) that is in question , and this will always be subjective. Katy has noted the fact it is a HDR image. The original (Feb 2011) was quite clumsy in its production, but I thought the image was worth a re-visit and re-process, one year on. Thanks again all who suggested ideas and commented
