Now that Dave said he will give it a go I just figured I would wait. If he comes on and says go for it before I head off to the grind....I will surely post.

Ok, I have to get off to work so I will go ahead and join you Chris. Wouldn't want you to have to sit the whole day alone. Antonio, I hear you about the quality....it is a small file. I am betting that I went a different direction than most but..... I loved the softer pastel look and feel of the color version and really wanted to keep that feel.

I am betting that I went a different direction than most but..... I loved the softer pastel look and feel of the color version and really wanted to keep that feel. My first one was quite similar to this but I felt the lightness on the rocks took away from the primary focal point: the lighthouse, so I went darker...I think even darker than Dave intended. I tried to emulate what Dave used in his original and using the rocks more as a lead into the scene, directing the eye to the nice vertical geometry. I did clone out the railing and tried a bit to open up the seaweed.

I really want to see your conversion of this image to B&W...this isn't great but I think shows a possibility few of us will ever achieve once it goes to your nimble fingers. Odd, but it looks like I've added a touch of selenium but I swear on Wirefoxes oddness ;D, I did not.

I think yours has too much structure which has caused a bit of haloing to appear.

What tool did you use to push your sky to get it that dark and not begin to posterize the image?

It makes me feel good that other than the sky and a little more tonality to the water, we were pretty close on everything else...maybe I am learning, Obi-wan.
