This image has done well in various Photo Salons and competitions. It was taken on the return of a long walk in wet weather, as I was descending from the mountains, a few breaks appeared in the clouds were the sun managed to shine through and just lit up this horse which was looking out over a ridge.

The shot we all dream to get the opportunity to shoot...quite nicely exposed and PP'd. I'd hang it on my wall.

Nice one, Barry. Should the grass be that dark? Is it my monitor?

I don't know what it is, the windswept mane and tail, the lighting, or what, but that horse has personality! Love it, Barry.

As George, I think the lower area of the image is rather dark. It is perhaps our monitor. I tried and came to this version. The sky is one important part of the scene so I made it also a little lighter. The day was windy... Of course it all depends onn what you get when you print it. The three boys in black and white you have seen here somewhere is now printed and it looks pretty good. But to get the right tonality in the printer one has to be present and make some tries until one get's the best result. So, the result - I mean what we see here - may not be exactly what you sent to the expositions. What you sent is for sure, better and is corrected. In which support did you put the image ? I mean the frame. Was it PVC, Kline, Alucobond or similar, a classical frame? I used to make mines in PVC and Kline. Both a disaster: they get twisted, bended and ... horrible. I have now moved into Alucobond (or similar). I will have the opportunity later on to post a thread about this.

Thanks for all your comments and edit. The grass was a bit of a pain, as I had already dropped down the mountainside when the sun decided to pop out, once I had climbed high enough to miss the grass, the horse had moved on . I had been quite pleased with the print, but maybe I will have another print with the lighter sky and see how it compares.

One of those "lucky" moments when the light is just perfect. Superb picture I am not surprised it has done well for you.

Bary, the I like the edits here, but I am still drawn to your original. I like the mood of the darker image.

Classic shot, Barry. I would happily hang it on my wall, too. Not surprised that it has done well for you.

i think the original has better mood, but the grass could be brought up a bit half way to the edit, the horse looks great as it but perhaps the head could be brought up a knats whisker
its a great photo im not surprised its done well in salons
