Maybe sometime...way of in the future... a section for camera, lenses, tripods, filters, etc. would be a nice addition. I know that I always like to get first hand feed-back or opinions from someone I trust and respect.

I'm with you, Mary.
In addition, I sometimes like to know what gear people are using. It is not always possible to read people's EXIF data and I accept that it can be cumbersome to attach such info to every image. Is it possible to put an equipment field or fields in the member profiles? Do others think it desirable?

If you upload images to Flickr and specify EXIF data to be included in whatever method you use, the EXIF data will be there on Flickr. To get a link to it, just select the image and under ACTIONS select EXIF info and grab the link at the address bar at the top of the page. Like this www.flickr.com/photos/carregwenimages/6205412030/meta/in/photostream/Also, if you use Firefox there are several EXIF viewers (I use Panda) which enable you to right-click an image and get the EXIF in a table, but it does depend on the image submitter uploading the EXIF with the image.

Hi Rob, I have specified EXIF data to be shown with my images and I do use a viewer, but I've found not everyone's data is viewable...

That's a good idea, Janis. For me, personally, I would not publish all the gears I have on my forum signature not because I don't have much but for personal concerns. I have heard stories from the web where people who are well equipped in photographic gears got robbed due to the data available about them on the web.
What i would probably encourage here at FSC would be to include the camera model used, the lens, the ISO, aperture and shutter settings. In that way, if members want to further analyze the image, they would get additional info from these data. I always do that on my posts because that is how I learned some important details that I might have missed if not for the generosity of the photographer. No wonder that even in these very good photography books, they always make it a point to include these information on the images they are showing. However, I or any other members here can't prevent it if members would post these infos on their signature. I for one have no problem with that. I am just leaning on the cautious side.

Hi Rob, I have specified EXIF data to be shown with my images and I do use a viewer, but I've found not everyone's data is viewable... That is because not everyone specifies it when creating their upload image. If you (and others) use Photoshop 'save for web' you can specify to include EXIF (or at least you can in CS versions). If people choose not to, there is not much you can do. Personally, I think we all ought to include it, where we can as it can be very useful and educative.

I agree with all of you...but...what I was meaning...was a board category to ask questions before I buy something.

Oops, I just discovered that, in fact, the latest Firefox upgrade had disabled Exif Viewer. Applied the quick fix, which was to download Add-on Compatibility Reporter and it is working again (I can read Antonio's data), but not on my photos!! Nor on any other Flickr images. Is it a Flickr thing? Rob, do I have to provide the physical link myself as you did with your Threesome image?

I added my point because it seemed related. Sorry if I have buried the lead. Perhaps Willie or Steve could confirm that they registered your suggestion, which, for my part, I wholeheartedly endorse.

As we progress and settle down on OUR forum, we will definitely include these wonderful ideas of yours. We, as members OWN the forum and not the Admin or the Moderators so we will surely evolve and adjust depending on the need of the members. As for now, kindly accept our snail paced progress since we are still polishing the design and interface of the forum. My sincere thanks to all of you for your patience and understanding. I just want to add, if the members are willing to spend some time to make a personal review on some of the photographic equipment that they are currently using it would be a very good thing to add another board on the forum simply for that. Let me know the consensus of the members about this so we can immediately react on it. Remember, these reviews should come from us members first. Many thanks.

I am a snail, Willie; you and Steve are not. The rapidity with which this site is developing is making my head spin. I don't mean to put any pressure on you and I know Mary doesn't either. We are just grateful that you are willing to do all the hard work!

We are just grateful that you are willing to do all the hard work! Thank you, Janis. The truth is, it is Steve(Wirefox) that is doing all the hard work right now. All the credit is due to him in making the forum what it is right now. Pardon me for being philosophical as always ( I can't help it. Hahaha!) but without all of your participation here posting, reacting, commenting, and sharing a little of your personal jokes and life, this forum will just be like any other... boring. There will always be ups and downs for everything so expect that, too in the forum. We are just establishing ourselves so everybody is very excited. Once we settled down, we will surely rest and enjoy the fruit of our work for a while. Then we'll be active again. Such is the norm of life, whether in real life or on the web. The core group are the ones that should thank you all generously for making this forum a lively and friendly one. Kudos to you, guys.
