this morning, and the light was just right..however, the walls of the building are not blue, but rather white and even though I did a color cast adjustment, no can get them white. Any suggestions?

Ya know I started off not liking this image because the light and shade divided it down the middle. I have not been able to come up with a fix but I started playing {did not finish....lots of work in Gimp. lol} with it and can now see what you were going for. I selected the blue shadow and desaturated it and brightened it both at 100% in hue/saturation. As I stated....not a perfect way or outcome but I can now see why you liked it. Almost forgot this

Even though the light's a bit bright/harsh, I like the original. It looks quite natural to me. Shadows (especially, shadows on white walls) are blue like that. So, with the shadows in the original, I think cool morning. (could be afternoon, though.

Re-edited and I think the square format works better.

As we don't know where this photo was taken, so the wall could be any colour, I like the original, as the shadow area on the right hand wall is more natural.

Having seen the first picture and then the edited wall, the first looks good. The square crop is very good.
