Thank you Jiro,
The car's wheelbase is 1532 mm, so it's indeed very agile. The dynamic events in our competition consist of very twisty tracks, set out with cones on parts of the bigger racecircuit (like Silverstone, Hockenheim and the Red Bull ring in Austria).
Handling and acceleration is much more important than top speed. Therefore the car will have a top speed of about 130 km/h, but accelerates from 0 - 100 km/h in less than 3.5 s. Besides it can corner at 1.6 g lateral, which is actually quite tricky to achieve at the small twisty tracks.
These high accelerations can be achieved because the car ways only 230 kg (and will loose an additional 15 kg when all carbon fibre rims, drive shafts and the custom motor invertor are finished) and has about 105 hp. After the mounting of the new planetary gearset as a final drive the torque will be 1200 Nm at the rear axles (!).
The hybrid Carbon Fibre Rims weigh roughly 2 kg per rim. This is less than half the weight of the Enkei rims which are mounted at the photograph I posted. Most serious teams in the Formula Student Competition use CFRP Rims at the moment.

Jeroen, I can barely understand about it all technically but I can understand that this is an incredibly fun project - a lot of work - and, I wonder if it feels a bit like your baby. You must really feel so proud and satisfied to have gotten this far. What an accomplishment!
and, I just feel like I'm being ridiculously social, at the moment, but I've just been wondering about you, this week - are finals over, yet? and, When do you race this? Who gets to be the driver?

After finishing the car some time ago we're now in a very busy period of testing the car. Soon we can release it's full potential and I'm really looking forward to that :-): Within a month the car has to be fully prepared to compete at the Silverstone circuit in England.

Let me know when you are at Silverstone Jeroen. If it is an open club day it would be great to come along and see you guys in action, it's not far from me.
Or if its Grand Prix weekend, I'll be there anyway ;D
