I received a PM from a member asking if it was possible to upload images directly from their computer. The short answer is no with the current versions of proboards software. However, the feature seems to be promised in Version 5 which could be pretty nifty when it arrives.
I tried to solve this before with very limited success in fact my original solution appears to have topped working or at least the providers pop-up is not in English. The main driver for a direct uploader is that members do not necessarily want to clutter up their Flickr with test images and dirty washing they would rather not make public on Flicker. So I have added a compromise.
You will now see an additional function when you start or reply to a thread;
Simply click the "Upload Image with TinyPic" control. You will be taken to the TinyPic uploader;
Click 'Browse' to select the image from your computer's Finder (Mac) or Explorer (PC). Make sure the 'image' radio button is checked and select the size of image you wish to upload from the 'Resize" drop down menu control. 1024 by 768 is maximum and just happens to be the FSC recommended maximum. Then hit 'Upload Now'
Now for the irritating bit. You will need to prove you are not a bot
Tinypic will then offer you several options for code to copy into you FSC post. Use 'IMG Code for Forums & Message Boards' highlighted in yellow in the screen cap below. Click the code once and it turns black to indicate that the code has been copied to your computer's clipboard.
Go back to the FSC tab or window and simply use the paste command to enter the image code into your post. NOTE: you do not need to use FSC "IMG" - "/IMG" tags they are already in the copied code.
And thats it.
Notes;
Using this method retains the forum function of viewing on black in the light box when the image is clicked.
Tinypic is heaving with ads and 'click me' type links...ignore them.
When an image is clicked by another user in FSC they are NOT taken to the host site which means we will not be embarrassed by our less than perfect image versions.
And finally just to prove it works
Reason for Editing: Note about '[IMG/]' tags
