For those of you who live by landscape images, but who never know quite where and at what time the sun will rise, this is the big banana of an app. You download it to your computer and use it to plot exactly where the sun will rise and at what time on any given day in any location. I believe it is based on Google Maps. A bit of blurb from the site to whet your appetite: " The Photographer's Ephemeris (TPE) is a tool to help with the planning of all types of outdoor photography, but particularly landscape and urban scenes.
It is a map-centric sun and moon calculator: see how the light will fall on the land.
TPE's map-based approach means you are not limited to a predefined list of locations, which often don't include the places many photographers go. Instead, search for any place name on the planet or position the map pin exactly where you want it.
Advanced features including automatic time zone and elevation detection, correction for atmospheric refraction and height above the horizon, ensuring that you have the best possible information for planning your shoot.
You can even determine when the sun or moon will be visible behind nearby hills and mountains."photoephemeris.com/

Kit, a very big THANK YOU. That is a terrific find. What makes it for me is the way it integrates with the maps. The magic of the Internet - A lady in NZ shows a bloke in England a way to figure out the light for his landscapes. A Result!
