These are images of objects from my other hobby that I started doing about 10 years ago while I was living in south Georgia. At the present moment everything is in storage as I don't have the room to set everything up. The first two images are close up shots of some glass beads that I have made that have not been turned into jewelry yet.The last image are 1:1 macros of some of the beads from the previous images. Might have to go dig all my glass and enamel out of storage and make some large pendants as these make for some interesting abstract images.

Love them all. Making art from art! I say dig them out( when you have time) and give us some more abstracts.

Ron, Thanks for posting those. Isn’t it great when you get to see something like that – right out of the blue (well dark Gray here at the moment)?

Ra, what a fascinating hobby! As Joe says, these are 'art from art'. I also hope that you soon find the space so that you can get your kiln and other equipment out of storage, and I join in the call for more abstracts from you The colours are fabulous, but I wonder if some would work well in B&W too? The beads with the leaf-type pattern are intriguing. Do you do textured beads? The photos of them excellent too. I particularly like your idea of making them into a tryptich

I love that tryptich Ron. If I hadn't seen the other pictures I would have thought it was close ups of tropical fish.

Thanks for the comments everyone. @katy:I buy the glass in rods and heat them up using a hot head bead torch screwed onto a 1lb cylinder of Mapp gas.The glass is wrapped around a steel mandril with bead release dried on it. Seri:I have no kiln as these are made small enough that a fiber blanket or a slow cooker filled with vermiculite and turned on high will usually help them to cool slowly,as not to introduce to much stress in the glass.

My goodness! I had no idea that these could be made without a kiln, and it was the price of kilns that always put me off in the past. Thanks, Ra, I'll be looking into this method of doing things later on tonight. Fascinating stuff

You have managed to get some very interesting patterns and colours into these beads, and bet you could produce some very abstract images with them.

Very nice Ron. I did some beading for a while with one of the ex's. I still have some of the chokers I made. Those are very nice looking beads and are just the type that would sell in these parts. I still have a love for colorful glass...but get my fix from my Antigue/vintage marble collection. I have right about 10,000 made between Mid 1800's - mid 1960's. Some are quite beautiful.

Thanks Ron, it is actually....if I do say so myself. lol I don't yet have a macro lens to shoot them the way I want. A while back {years ago} I shot a bunch with a point&shoot. Maybe I will post a few of those if there be intrest.

Yes,I'm very interested. It's funny that you mentioned the marbles though,as I had thought of shooting an image of someone playing marbles from the ground level not to long ago.
