Okay, Chris, you asked... This is moss growing on an old picnic bench in a corner of our yard at the lake that I shot several weeks ago. The first is a heavy crop and the second closer to full size. Fire away. #1 #2

They are both very fresh and vibrant. I prefer the second, I think. I like the three horizontal 'layers'. Nicely done.

Oh, yeah, baby - lovely.... I think the first would be a stronger image if some of the green at the bottom were cropped. Say to the middle-ish of the darker green area on the right.
But the second is beautiful and my favourite.

Me too like #2...however, if I cropped it would be more of the top than the bottom.

Kit, is this what you had in mind for #1? I wanted to keep it to a standard format, so I burned in some of the colour I lost at the top. Chris, I am confused. Did you mean for me to crop #1 or #2? Thanks to all for your comments.

Janis, I had more in mind this: so you keep all that delicious background colour, while getting rid of some bottom. I think Chris may have thought I meant crop #2, so I re-posted to make myself clearer.

I like the recrop on #2 as I think it helps to bring the focus more on the middle plane. However, I prefer Janis' crop on #1 over Kit's as Ithink Kit's wants to bottom the shot out too quickly.

Thanks, Chris and Mary. Chris, I'll keep your suggestion in mind if I ever do anything with that second image, but all that creamy soft focus colour is what I like best about it, so it will be hard to give up any more than I already have.

I keep going back to them and am much more drawn to the 1st image. I really like the creamy softness.
