Made a series of this bed while staying with a rellie recently. I loved the way the light was falling here as it gave a gentle, romantic feel to the image. This is one version, as I did a couple to hopefully express different moods.

Looks so cozy and dreamy. Makes me want to snuggle in the billowy softness. Beautiful.

Is that snuggle or snoggle?

I really like the original image, but had to have a play with it to see if combining a nice, high key B&W with the brass bar would work...what do you think?

Nicely done Kit. I very much like the original. Very inviting light.

Thanks for all your comments. I was very happy with the way this turned out, as for once, it was nearly what my inner eye was showing me. Chris, I did have a go at exactly what you have done and at that stage, seen beside the original, it looked far too white. But seeing your version against my final one, it actually looks OK. Actually, more than OK. Actually, I may have to re-visit the idea again. (Actually.)

I did several passes with the B&W adjustment layer and SEP2 until I had the white part where I wanted it, then pasted your original back atop it, dramatically lowered the opacity to get the brass bar paler, masked out all but the brass bar using a very large, very soft brush set to 100% and worked through the image.
I do admit to giving back some of the "colour" in the frame posts and rails, but just a teeny bit for better definition.
I like playing with other people's work because it gives me a chance to study their skillsets, add to or invent some of my own and learn a tremendous amount without having to worry if it is a "keeper" or not.
It is a great image either or, as have been the rest of your white on hite images. Looking forward to more.

Thank you Chris. I really appreciate your comments and your description with SEP. I think I may need to shout myself some new software at some stage. I work pretty much 100% with PS, with occasional forays in to SNS-HDR sometimes and while I love what you can do with PS, SEP just seems to give b & w's that extra bing factor.

I recently read an article on using LAB color to produce Ansel Adams type B&W's and will send oyu the link if I can find it. Scott Kelby also has a similar line on using LAB color and if I can scare up a scanner, will copy the pages and send to you.
LAB color conversion does work well, but I found it to be a bit tedious and as you pointed out, SEP2 just offers a bit more punch without all the extra effort.

Kit
This is way too clean! In our bedroom a different picture presents itself. The blood marks on the ceiling, the thick layer of dust over everything, the teddies in a state of disarray, clothes littering the floor, assorted half-read books thrown on the floor. Chaos.
But I do like the effect you have achieved here. I just find it hard to believe you just stepped out of bed...

Well, young Rob, I just had. Stepped to grab a robe as I was staying in someone else's house, turned and saw a potential. For some reason I have always had a fascination with shooting unmade beds, but have never been in a white room with white bedding and a mock-gold bedframe before. Our bus bedroom sounds much more like yours, but replace Teddies with a single, constantly shedding Corgi and we generally clean the blood off the ceiling before the help arrives.

I have to say that I am concerned about all this blood on ceilings.
