I need to install and run an ICC profile on my trend to decent printed images. Who can give me a help ? I assume that after installing the ICC profile, I will be able to export an image (jpg) from CS with that profile. ... Perhaps this is not the right question ! Please look at the first photo bellow. It is from CS5 and is in Edit/Assign Profile. It shows the assigned profile for the opened photo. If I am thinking correctly the new profile will appear here when uploaded to the right folder. So, which is the right folder to place the new profile ? However, to make things harder, The Convert to Profile also looks very tempting to use but the problem persists: where to place the new ICC profile ? And dig into the help only confused me more.

From what I remember, when I downloaded the profiles for my printing, I downloaded them to my desktop, then right click on them, and I had the option to install.

I have only used ICC profiles for soft proofing but still save the file as Adobe RGB.
Is that what you meant?
Here is the process I followed- Download ICC profile Install the profile in the operating system (in Windows – right click > profile install; in OS X – manual adjustment) operating system path Mac OS 9 MacintoshHD:/System Folder/ColorSync Folder Mac OS X MacintoshHD:/Library/ColorSync/Profiles Win 95, 98, 98se, ME C:/Windows/System/Color Windows NT4 C:/winnt/system32/color Windows 2000 C:/winnt/system32/spool/drivers/color Windows XP, Vista, 7 C:/windows/system32/spool/drivers/color Start Adobe Photoshop Open the file to be simulated Menu > View > Proof Setup > Custom... Select the profile under "Device to Simulate" Don't select "Preserve RGB Numbers" Render priority "Relative Colourmetric" with "Black Point Compensation" Optionally you can choose "Simulate Paper Color" Confirm the process with OK Always judge your colors in fullscreen mode on a solid grey background
The soft proof is now active for the picture opened. The key combination ctrl + y turns this on and off
It may also be helpful to show the colour range warning (SHIFT+CTRL + Y). This highlights tones that are outside of the paper’s print range. This makes it possible to optimise larger colour ranges to the colour range of the particular printing device.
