I don't dislike the colour one as the colours are very muted, but felt that the B&W was just slightly stronger.

I think I really knew that when I made the original...and I kept going back to the B&W version, so pretty much knew that was the real deal..there is just something about chrome in B&W that's hard to beat.

Strong tonal contrasts scream out for black and white but I do like the colour image in this case so if I really had to choose it would be the colour for its muted colours

I may be odd but I see the world in color so monochrome looks fake to me, like a 50 year old black and white TV. There are some images that look better to me in mono but it may just be that the color version has issues that prevent it from looking good that way. I realize that there are those that prefer mono images but I wonder, do these people see the world in mono? Do they adjust the TV sets to watch in mono? I've been told that some people only dream in mono and never have a dream in color. Perhaps there are perfectly valid reasons why folks prefer monochrome images that has something to do with their makeup. I simply don't know. But I do know I dream in color, and prefer color images, but I'm not sure I could give you a technical reason as to why. These images look OK to me in monochrome but that may be that text is easier to read in high contrast.

Colour, it seems to have more depth.

I am having a love affair with b & w at the moment, but this particular image appeals more in its colour state, maybe because of the relatively muted tones.
