Hi all, My first post here in the F-Stop forum..good to see so many familiar names among the membership, and it looks like a great place to hang out.. Have been playing a bit with the vignetting tools in LR3, and am wondering if there are any other options besides dark or white? This first image got me to thinking about it, as I wanted to add a bit of pink color to the vignetting, but could not find anything about this, anywhere..so, I came here to ask the Pro's! www.pbase.com/dizzygazer/image/138371150/large.jpg [/img] www.pbase.com/dizzygazer/image/138403672/large.jpg [/img] While it won't arrive for another week, at least, I have a copy of PS CS4 en-route from Australia. Considering I have -0- Photoshop experience, it may be some time before I'll understand how to vignette with the tools it is sure to have. Mike

Welcome to FSC, Mike.
The easiest way to do a vignette using any kind of color is to:
1. First make a new layer and fill that layer with the color of your liking.
2. Apply a masking layer to this layer.
3. Use the gradient tool on the toolbar and set it to radial gradient. Make sure that your foreground color is BLACK and your background color is WHITE. Now, click the center area of your image and extend the line towards one of the corners of the frame. That will reveal the central area untouched while the color of the layer you chose on step one will be the color of your vignette.
I will attach a sample .psd file here Mike as soon as it finished uploading it. Hope this helps.

Good explanation Jiro. I would have done it slightly differently which I won't post as it will just add confusion. It amazes me the different ways there are to achieve the same thing in PS

Thank you Willie! I'll have to wait till the PS gets here to open that file, but I have no doubts it will be most helpful.
This isn't something that will come up too often, but having an option to add some color to the vignette might dress up an otherwise average image.

My apologies, Mike. I did not know that you don't have photoshop with you, yet.

My apologies, Mike. I did not know that you don't have photoshop with you, yet. Not a worry at all Willie, as I expect it to arrive in the next few days. I appreciate you taking the time to put that together for me. TBH, I don't have the slightest clue about how to do layers, masking, etc. but fortunately I'm a quick study, and unless someone pops up and offers me a job I'll be spending hours a day on it until I get at least a strong command of the basics.

Once you got your Photoshop, post your questions here and we'll help you out. We're not certified photoshop professionals but we can rock the boat. Hahaha!
