This is a quick shot I took this morning, handheld. I'm pretty sure I can do better on the tripod, so will give it a try over the weekend. At least I didn't blow out the red too much.

Remids me of my Easter lily shot a few years ago...nice explosion of color, but I'd sure love to see the detail go further into the petals.

Pretty good looking image for a hand held.

Thanks, all. Just curious to know whether you think it "reads" better flipped.

What lens did you use for this?

Thanks, Mary. This is from my beloved Nikkor 105 mm macro. The only thing I don't like about it is that it is heavy, and I can't do much with it handheld.

Nicely done, Janis. I prefer the first.

Boom again! Janis this is a great subject. I'm just imagining the fun you will have selecting different points of focus and different f stops. Enjoy! Oh - and I like the pov in the first a little better.

Thanks, Paul & Nick. Nothing to show for today's effort. Red is hard. Tips welcome.
