I went to scope out a wedding venue on Sunday and there was a garden show on which presented a few photo opportunities.

Trying to be creative with the tilt shift blur in CS6. I haven't really played with it much but this image seemed to be suitable for a go. It needed to be in portrait orientation because of all the vertical lines. A landscape would have just squashed everything down. So then I looked at putting ND gradients on the top and bottom to bring the eye more to the centre of the image. But that just didn't work because if there is probably a 2 stop difference in the top and bottom of the image. So I did put a slight dark gradient on the bottom and then thought the blur would be worth a go. What do you think teach? Pass or Epic Fail

It is a successful failure. You got what you were trying to accomplish, but to my eye, it all seems too artificial.

I like it. It caught my eye right away. I'm not much for rules, and total sharpness, reality...you know the drill.

I recommend a View or Field camera with proper tilt and shift capabilities for focal control.

I recommend a View or Field camera with proper tilt and shift capabilities for focal control. Maybe one day but the closest I will get is likely to be the 24mm TS-E that canon make.

Steve, Why say "Maybe one day..." in reference to Large Format Photography ? ( I'm suspecting it may be due to price of a new camera ) I was just browsing through the used Large Format camera body inventory that KEH has and I found a 4X5 CALUMET 45N priced at $189 for Excellent Plus. You would still need to add a lens with shutter, lens board, film holders, and possibly a tripod if you don't have one that can handle something this large. I also recommend you looking on ebay. A friend picked up a 4x5 Toyo Monorail View Camera body for less than $100 there. It turns out that digital photography has brought much of the Large Format equipment into an affordable range.
