Hmm. Not so sure bout this one. I like the idea and in certain places it works, like the big drop on the RHS where it is really magnifying the texture of the leaf. But the drops don't look quite right somehow, like they are not sitting on the leaf itself but on a piece of glass above it. The drops don't have any depth if you know what I mean.

Hmmm, Steve, I think you may have put your finger on what was bothering me about this. The real interest for me in a top-down shot like this is the magnification and distortion of the veins created by the water droplets (and the colour contrast), so I would want to isolate one or or more droplets, and get in as close with a macro lens as DOF would allow, or possibly increase the magnification with extension tubes. I do love the colour, though, and the veins are wonderfully sharp.

Thanks guys. I have my reservations about this one as well, mostly that I wish the drops were distributed better. It's not one of my favorites for sure.
The "flatness" of the drops probably resulted from the fact that this is backlit (with a flash) so there was no "light sculpting" to give them any depth.
This is about as close as I could get with the 100 macro, and it was then cropped significantly. I suppose I could have gotten out the extension tubes and next time if I'm not as wet I'll do so.
