Chris The reason why I cropped this way; I wanted to show "Dad" as the guy who's not always in the picture, but there, In the corner, In the back ground, as support, as protector.

I remember my husband - so keen to hold our newborns and bond - with his shirt off, I think? He'd read something somewhere about it - it's all a blur to me - both then and now!!! I love the light in this. I love papa's enlightened brow. Of course, I wish that the light was on his eyes, too. Skin is so powerful, isn't it? It's very tactile and it hits an emotional place, for sure - I half love looking at this and half, feel it's too intimate to look at - that's good!

Mick, I kept on coming back to this image and yet I can't exactly tell what I want to say until now. I think, IMO, if you are looking at your baby that would be a more powerful composition for the shot. You, with that masculine and strong features looking towards the fragile boy that somehow portrays your protective side. I don't know, but being a father myself and a very emotional one, I just thought that the idea would look "better". The way you preserved the midtones is quite different and I dig it.
