Hi, Mike
Please tell me what I am missing?

Rie, did you shoot this against a white background or did you convert to white in the edit? The effects I can see are best described as over-spill of the white background onto the background petals and at the top of the stalk.

I shot against a white background. Actually exposed for the petals and shot out the window. Background became overexposed = white.

I think what I'm seeing is where the out of focus highlights in the petals have burnt out into the background. They would appear to give a similar effect in places to an overzealous use of an adjustment brush where the background colour has been changed in the edit. It's obviously just a coincidence and certainly doesn't detract from what is undoubtedly a beautiful image.

Mike, Do you think I should PP again so it is not so bright white? Take it down one notch? I could do a levels adjustment just to make it not so in-your-face. I want the delicate flower details to be appreciated, not make the viewer have to wear sunglasses. Rie

As with all images Rie, it's what the creator wants or sees that is important, but why not play around a bit with the levels to see if you like it better. I have some shots in my Lightroom catalogue where I have a dozen or more different edits. The hard part is choosing which to post. but at least I know that I've explored most of the possibilities. Hooray for virtual copies!!

Thanks, Mike.
I do have several edits. I will post a SOOC and some successive when I get home from work this evening.

They are all good Rie, but the macro shots are top notch.

Thanks, Steve.
With regards to the macros, I think I have finally got the hang of using my 500d macro lens.

They are very good macros Marie. What focal length is the lens you're using?

Grasshopper, I am so stupid. It seems that I left out the middle part of the statement about my lens.
I use my 70-200 2.8 lens with my 500d closeup lens. On the red amaryllis, it is 145mm, f16, ISO 2000, SS 1/80 sec. On the other one, it is 102mm, f11 ISO 800, SS 1/125.
