Do you own this guy? If so, congratulations.
Nice image, Mike, except for 3 things. Horsey rule of thumb is to shoot them "naked" (no halter). The other niggle is that wood triangle growing out of his nose.....;-)And...recommendation is to back up and shoot long, so as not to get big-head syndrome.
Otherwise, nice conversion, as usual, and friendly horse. He looks like he wants a cookie.....

Can't disagree with your observations Rie. It was really an exercise in black and white conversion for me, trying to get shape and texture in the face, but I should have cloned out the edge of the water trough. No the horse isn't mine. Photo taken at the English National Stud in Newmarket UK. The frustrating thing was that they were right next to us or away to the other side of the field. It was a good visit.

Who wouldn't smile at a new friend like that? I don't mind the halter or trough. I think they tell a bit about where the image was taken, and add contrast and texture , especially since it is B&W. The halter makes me think of jewelry on a person or a collar on a dog...they are often carefully chosen. But...I'm not one for rules in photography. If I like it, I like it...and I do like it.
