Nicely done. What do you suppose goes on in that little tower? Are the narrow slits for archers?

Thanks Ken. This shot is from a series I took in Buxy, a little fortified town in Burgundy France. Towers are quite a common feature in the area and were undoubtedly used originally for defensive purposes, hence the arrow slits.

Very nice, Mike. I like the fact that you have great DoF all the way through. Do you mind sharing your settings?

Thanks 'Rie. It is a slight crop from an image taken on a 24-85mm f2.8-f4 lens set at 24mm (35mm equivalent) on an APC sized sensor. ISO100 1/80 f9 with -1/3EV. The wide angle lens obviously gives me the greater depth of field allied to the aperture. I needed the wide angle to get the full building height in, so had to crop out the unwanted edge details. Hope this helps.

Really nice Mike.
The gradient you have applied to the bottom right works really well. If you look really closely there is a bit of a halo around the roof line of the tower and just to the left of it which could do with fixing a bit. It could have come if you have highlight priority selected on a vignette tool as it stops the feathering when it gets near to a high contrast edge.

Looking back to the original colour image Steve there is a band of light sky all around the roof lines with just a few low darker scudding clouds above. The conversion would appear to have exaggerated the effect but no doubt the final contrast adjustments to give the image some punch have not helped. I've also cloned out several aerials and cables crossing the roofs, perhaps too carelessly.
