This nettle was pretty much the only thing growing on the overflow of a local reservoir. I have pained out a few bits of grass, so as to complete the scene of individual defiance. As Originally Posted Nettle002 by nigeltown1, on Flick

Nice Nigel.
I think I would be inclined to cool the overall white balance down a bit and maybe zap those other small bits of green that are peeking through in a couple of places.
Being really picky, I probably would have preferred the nettle a bit more on the intersect of the bottom left third.
Nevertheless, its a good image.

Hi,
I had a play and re-composed the shot - I don't like being too pedantic about the rule of thirds, but agree the image did need a better balance.
As to the colour balance, the image was shot with the sun very low in the sky, close to sunset, but I have toned it down a bit, and stripped out all the last traces of other life...
