Brought these home today as I found them interesting. I have no clue as to what kind of tree, except the last one. These were in a tree, when I looked them up...the closest I came was an Australian tree....cheese tree? Must be a highly prized seed....due to the protection it has. This is not a pinecone, in fact it is a 5 inch section of a brach that are usually between 4ft and 12ft long. The whole tree is made up of branches like this. We call them monkey trees but I am unsure of the true name.

I know the last one is a Chilean Pine. The second one looks like chestnuts but I think there are many varieties. No idea on the first one. My first thought was Quince but really not sure.
Photographically I love the second image. Very nice.

I don't know about seed or plants... But I know I like your pictures though... ;D I agree with Steve, #2 is the best followed by #1 and #3...

Thanks Steve, I figured the second could be a chestnut but really only a guess. The Chilean pine....ok always just new them as a monky tree due to the way the branches are formed. ;D As you can tell I am no botonist.
Thanks Don, I was quite happy with the detail I got being I do not own a Macro lens and used my 16-50. ;D

Interesting finds. I have to agree that photographically #2 pleases me most. Have you thought about a square crop on this to focus on the seeds and get rid of the dead space around the shell. You could also introduce a slight vignette to further emphasise the seeds. The lighting and texture in #3 would lend itself to a black and white conversion. Good finds.

Oh, hrmmmm, I like #1 and 3 better than #2 - the bit of oof at the very front of the seed has me fixated. The fruit in the first are really attractive, to me, but the light seems....or the color....I can't quite figure it out. I, also, don't know what I think about the front fruit being halfway cut off. These things are so tricky, really. LOVE the colors and textures in all three! =]

The fruit in the first image are a variety of persimmon. The modern cultivars of this fruit are edible and are one of the fruits I look forward to all year. They have a shortish season and don't keep like apples, so you get' em and eat 'em when you can. If this is a more original one, I wouldn't try eating it, as the older varieties are quite bitter, even when fully ripe. There is a Cheese tree, but it is a different plant altogether.
I like the seed pod too and can imaging it as a lovely black & white.

Thanks Katy, I see the oof spot, bummer. ;D some of it is due to the fine hair but I will see what I can do there.
Thank you for the I.D. Kit. I figured someone would know. Also, I have already begun a BW conversion on #2. I was thinking the same.
