I have had a spluttering start with this portal but I am ready to try again.
Please note the following;
The portal page is now your home page...so when you hit HOME you will be taken to the portal. This could get to be a pain for some and if you do not like the set up I can change it so you will only see the portal at the start of each session for which a cookie is issued.
There are a couple of textual errors that I will sort out tomorrow.
I am not keen on the font for the body text either and I will play around with that when I am a bit fresher tomorrow.
I am aware the Microsoft do not like my portal page and some users have experienced some formatting errors when using Internet Explorer. If you get in a real tangle go to the forum using FireFox, Safari or one of the other real browsers and drop me a PM stating what is happening
Many thanks for your continued support and please tell me if you simply do not like it or any aspect of it.

Right, you will only see the splash portal page at the start of each browser session. If you log out or close the browser you will see the splash again.
I need to find a way to bring it up on demand but I think that may be difficult given that the whole purpose of the splash to let people know whats what when they first enter.

Why not have access to the portal page by clicking on the main Logo at top of page, and leave the home button as is.

We can always just use the forum front page as our personal start pages in bookmarks, can't we? or has that been over-ridden? I'll test!
Steve, I'm using Firefox 3.6.24 on Windows XP Pro and am still getting an odd effect when I scroll down quickly on the portal page. As I scroll, I the page flickers oddly and I can see the forum page appearing and disappearing behind the portal page. Is anyone else with the same set-up seeing this? Have never had this effect before so am wondering what is up with that. It doesn't particularly bother me, but if it is default behaviour with FF and XP, it may need a look at.

Also, when I went back to the portal page just now, I'm seeing some odd font behaviour. To force the whole page to fit on the laptop, I'm using "View->Zoom->Zoom Text Only" in FF, but when I'm zooming, the text only zooms below the Tutorial Updates line. The headings below that don't zoom, but the blocks of text do. But nothing above that point zooms. Within the forum itself, everything zooms as per usual. This forum is the only one that I have had to use the "View->Zoom->Zoom Text Only" function on. Not a biggie, but it does have to be switched on and off as I navigate to other web pages etc.

Main problem is that it does not work in IE, any version. Given that a good portion of the world operates in IE, it is a problem that will have to be addressed,

Arrg too many issues. I have removed the portal. I need to find another way of doing this but I think I know the route I need to go so it could be some time. Thanks for your patience and apologies for any inconvenience. NORMAL SERVICE HAS BEEN RESUMED

I was able to access through Chrome, but all my favotite site, etc are lodged in IE and going to and fro was a royal pain in the arse. I liked how it looked, but really like how this looks as well.
