I was sat on a bench, waiting for Seb to finish his driving lesson. My camera was on the bench between my legs (pointing outwards ), so, while I was waiting I just kept clicking the shutter. When I got home there was one shot in particular that stood out - the woman with the bag. She seemed to be deeply engrossed in something and not aware of what was going on around her, so I added a few things to the shot that were actually happening - but she will probably never know...

Awesome! The idea of the shot and the manipulation works for me. I think if the people in the background are blurred and in actual motion the shot would be more powerful but it really does work as it is. Very creative!

Thanks Jiro, a great idea to have the people in the background blurred in motion. I am very tempted to give this another go, and do just that.

Thanks Jiro, a great idea to have the people in the background blurred in motion. I am very tempted to give this another go, and do just that. I got that idea from the long exposure photography tutorial images from JeroenK. I wish I had a dark ND filter to try it out myself. I already have 5 ideas or visions on how I want it to be done. Hahaha! Actually I really feel the itch right now to play around with your shot and do a b&w conversion of it. Your image resonates inside me about something.

What a creative image. Like Willie said, the blurring would be great but it is great as is. Not only the concept and the final product, but the clarity and overall quality is really nice.

The womans face alone is a picture but the image as a whole is a real story. The speed restriction sign and the apparent rush of the people is inspired. Great work Rob...although the only slight niggle is the loss of her toes. Have you considered this as a b/w conversion? There are a god range of tones in this image and it would be interesting to see the mood change when presented in monochrome. Great Avatar by the way...very Pythonesque

After suggestions from Willie and Steve I've had a go at the BW conversion. ...and I have to say THANKS - good call you two!

Nice! I like it much more in bw.
I find it a very clever idea. Maybe there is no need for an effect like blur on the people. The bw conversion has it for me.

I agree with what WireFox said, "The womans face alone is a picture but the image as a whole is a real story."
I find myself immediately drawn to the woman, she looks like she has something she wants to tell you. You are then drawn past her to the shadowy figures that could be memories from her past. The cobblestone lends a mysterious feel to it. Maybe I need to lay off the old episodes of the ghost whisperer.
Overall a darn nice image for me!

Yup! The B&W makes the story just quieten down and focus and gel! I'm starting to fall in love with B&W more and more. Like Jeroen mentioned before - it adds to that surreal - otherworldly feeling that so many great photos have.

Great work Rob...although the only slight niggle is the loss of her toes. Well, considering the unorthodox camera technique used to capture this - I wasn't going be so picky.... Totally!

That's a Brilliant shot, Robnaylor. Very creative. You are lucky to have a composition like that, without looking at what the camera was actually pointing at.

I would like to see a photo of just the woman on the right without all the ghosting images. Not saying that would be better, just curious. Your image is very good as it is. I do like the idea and the execution is great. I actually prefer the color version.

I love this shot, it speaks loudly. I have been toying with some ideas along the lines but nothing so wonderful as this. I can wish tho. =} Fantastic Rob, and inspirational to boot.
