Yes, I never took to Rankin in his 'natural' environment but I think he was stripped down to 'a photographer' in the presence of these guys. What really came home to me about all these older Life photographers is the great simplicity and honesty in their work. In fact their image making is an extension of their thoughts and their involvement in the subject matter there is no complexity only intensity. I really must save for that X100 I have a feeling a camera like that will be a great giver of freedom. We become slaves of the expectations of the DSLR
