Here for your C&C are the original and B&W version of a photo I took the day after Christmas. It was early evening. I posted a similar photo in another thread. This one I cropped differently and adjusted levels, contrast, etc. I like the softness of the conversion. Thanks, Joe IMGP9201B1 by ebamismoi, on Flickr IMGP9201B1B&W by ebamismoi, on Flickr

I think the B&W works well as it focusses the viewer more on the lines rather than being distracted by colour.
There is a light bulb not working which breaks up the flow of that line of lights so maybe you could clone one in?
The shadows on the ground are a little distracticing because we cannot see what is making them. Maybe they could be dodges a little to lessen the effect. There is also a light triangle just peeking into the picture in the bottom right which could be zapped.
I like the scene, very nice. I think it would be a good thing to have a person sitting on those steps being thoughtful?

Thanks Steve!I agree about the B&W. LOL! Didnt even notice one of the light bulbs being out. I will clone one in. As for the shadows, looks like I will finally be learning about how to use the dodging tool. The triangle should be easy. I think I will go back with some friends of mine and retake this shot, using one or two on the steps. Great idea! Thanks! I will post the edited version as soon as I can.

The B&W version has so much more texture in it and as Steve said your eye focusses on the lines more.

I love the subject matter Joe but there are too many mid tones to make this really pop. Maybe try moving the black point and increasing the contrast a little.

Well Steve W, here is my edited version. I first used the dodge tool ,but found that it only lightens or darkens the area. This was fine but I seemed to lose the texture of the walkway. So I used the clone tool to mimic the walkway. Took alot of time but looks like it might have worked. I also cloned in the missing light. I also cloned out the white area of wall next to the steps. Also cloned out the light triangle you mentioned. Wirefox Steve, I will go back in and give it a go and post the edit. Thanks you guys! IMGP9201B1B&WFSC by ebamismoi, on Flickr

OK! Here is my edit adjusting the black point and increasing the contrast alittle.I tried this several times until I was able to soften the glare/brightness of the glass. Is this what you meant WirefoxSteve? IMGP9201B1B&WFSC3 by ebamismoi, on Flickr
