I like the sky and the rays of light, and the panoramic format always works well for mountain scenes, but I did think a bit more of the water would be nice (especially if you had a spare red boats kicking around in the archives).

You are more a black and white guy aren't you Dave ? I am seing your image in my rather aged e-book or whatever it is called so forgive me f I say something not so "adjusted/correct" to the image. Overall I think it is very nice. However, it looks like it is laking a bit of field at the bottom, more water needed. It looks to me that the mountains have little detail. (My screen computer problem perhaps) but the light falling down from the sky are great and look gorgeous. Perhaps if you get more water and cut the mountain on the right you can get a better balanced composition.

Dave I agree with others about the lack of foreground (water) but the light in the valley is captured superbly. I can see what Antonio means about you being a black and white man (not sure if thats politically correct ;D) because I do get the feeling that this was taken for b/w. In b/w that sliver of land to the left would not have caught attention so much and the lack of detail in the mountains would be less of an issue.
As far as the composition goes I can see what you have done to get the sunlit valley on the r/h vertical third but to be honest it is achieved at the cost of cutting the mountain on the far right off in mid flow. Although it is all very well for me to sit in my warm comfy armchair and nit pit, I do think the aspect would have been even more dramatic by moving right a quarter. The left quarter has nothing much going on but I suspect capturing almost all of the mountain on the far right would have given far more form and balance to the image.

I am a bw togger at heart, i see in bw lol, i suppose i should show you what i did first when i took it, as you havent seen it on here, these colour versions are me trying something different

Now your edited B&W version is spot on, you have included the most dramatic part of the clouds and managed to keep those rays of light, there even seems to be more detail in the mountain area as well.

The b&w is just stunning, Dave. The buildings furnish a great sense of the scale of the mountains, and--there's no other word in this instance--the heavens. A gorgeous, awe-inspiring image.
