This has been very interesting for me observing how this image has developed. I actually thought the original was only slightly too dark. That is because what I want to see when I view industrial ruin is doom and gloom...the dark satanic mills and all that. I think what has happened here is that we have gone from an image that oozed mood to something that is a beautifully constructed record of an old mine on a bright and sunny day. However the compositional adjustments as we would expect are certainly all for the better (crop is a bit close on the l/h side on the last two Chris . This is understandable since it is measurable. So if the same adjustments were made to the original with some solicitous burning and selective exposure...Bob's your Uncle..a perfectly constructed image that makes the green hairs on my back tingle. I am not suggesting you change this Barry...you must be sick of the sight of the place

I am not suggesting you change this Barry...you must be sick of the sight of the place As I said to Paul, I still like the original, although I have edited some of the unwanted shadows in foreground. All these various versions are now in my folder awaiting my next print order, and the final print is what makes the discission for me.

Yes, that makes perfect sense. The proof has to be in the printing and its really quite difficult to predict which version will print best. Its been a really useful thread this one.
