Another view of our local town of "Sainte Severe", taken early evening in late October 2011. Both are HDR ... Landscape Format Portrait Format

Well this is how HDR processing should be applied. There is a loss of detail in the bright green leaves but I kind of like that. I think my biggest concern is that even with the HDR processing the walls and the far right and far left of the image still seem a little under exposed (is that an applied vignette?). That may be a job for the dodging brush rather than reprocessing though. The landscape version is a winner but the portrait version...hmm, no sorry it does not work for me.
A beautiful place and reminds me of Gawsworth Village in Cheshire.

Both images look good, although a tad dark on my monitor, but I feel that the portrait wins slightly as it is more balance with the tree and church spire. plus I like the ripple in the foreground. Maybe as a edit, lose that street light pole to left of tree.

Two different votes, one for Landscape and one for Portrait, we need a third vote here.

I'll throw my vote in for the landscape version as it enhances the large expance of the grounds. I also love the sky in the landscape, as it pulls you back in from either side.

I am going for the portrait version. I like the way the ripple and Church take you into the image on the RHS.

In the first one, I love the sky and the reflection of the sky in the pond and the vastness of that same sky and the lovely row of trees and their reflection and....the colors!!! and, and, and... It's expansive and you have lovely leading lines to the steeple. In the second - I see an awful lot of that wall on the left. It's kind of busy and my eye doesn't move around within the frame as easily. So, I vote for the first! I appreciate that you use HDR with such a subtle touch - the way you're using it, it enhances the image and doesn't call attention to itself.

I like the portrait format best. Although I would like to see it as light as the 1st one. Love the reflections you got on both.

I do like very much the first image and also the comparison - a word from the French I am sure - with the recent photograph.
