This tree worked real well for Nina as a color image. I reshot it with the express interest in doing an edgy B&W print.

These old gnarly trees work really well in contrasty black and white. There is a little too much noise in the middle ground shadows for my taste, or is the background from another image at a different resolution?
I like the composition - a good "ROT" use with the main tree interest on the lower two 1/3 intersects.

I added some grain to it at the last minute, though now that I see it through more awakened eyes, might go back and remove it. I was doing it primarily to make an alternative processes negative called Albumen. I am going to see how it does with the Albumen then go back and reset the grain.

I was puzzled how the grain only appears in the background and not on the tree. That's why my first thought was that maybe this is a marriage of two images.

I like the edit very much. Also, now I've seen it a little darker ... it is much better IMHO.
