This is one image I passed over at the time. Now armed with a better understanding of pp and with SEP - I'm able to do a little with it. What do you think? Thanks for looking. #1 5D 28mm @1/125sec ISO400 #2

A more dramatic sky perhaps...

Good subject, and you have good separation between the objects, but felt that the bits and pieces on the left blend too quickly into the surrounding area, have you thought about darkening the whole image and then bring back the trailers, boats and tractor, as this may make them stand out better within the image.

Antonio's crop, does make the image stronger.

The sky is also compressed

I prefer the edited version by Antonio, the darker mid-tones are a good choice for this.

I prefer the colour version. It seems a shame to get rid of all those lovely colours that seem to complement each other. I would say you could lose some sky on the colour version though. Maybe a pseudo pano crop??

I'm all color on this one...a little cloning, cropping and playing about with exposure.

Nick, I like the image. I felt that the color one was on the verge of being too bright, losing any pop the colors had. The B&W seemed to lose some of the shadows and the sky is too bright. Antonios edit seemes to fix this/these as does Chris' edit in color. The colors pop more and the colors of the sky is more even.

Thanks to all for your comments and hard work. I'm going to forget about the B&W this time. You folks are seeing the B&W in a way that I'm not comfortable with. The location and subject that I saw was all about light, and air, and big sky, and full on winter sun side light, and snow on the ground, and the contrast between all those things and the hard life this machinery and the people who use them have, in making their living. Under is a revision that I feel addresses some of the comments you have kindly made. I could not make the sky more dramatic in a way I am comfortable with so I cut it off. I've cropped a little closer to emphasis the main subject. I have not taken out the boat in the harbor nor the barbecue, as I wanted my viewer to have something to notice after taking in the main subject.

It's very nice. ;D Even with the horizon at the center, the boats and tractor are at the right place.
