Saw this idea on another forum...seemed like a good idea and it is rather interesting..at least in concept. I still have a lot of details to work out in the process, but it was fun. This is called, "Night Panning Abstracts"

Very interesting images Chris.I see some great possibilities with this kind of image. These are a good start to something that can turn out to be very good with more experimentation.I like where you are going with this and would like to see more of them.

Fun idea! I love the glowing colors and there is a bit of abstract but, then, the little bits that I can see aren't quite working - i.e. the letters from the boat and the ladder. I wonder what others will think. Like Ron said....definite possibilities?

The boat one was an 8 second exposure at f/9. Details tend to get lost, which is the whole idea. the ones on the other forum were only 2 second exposures, but with a much lower ISO.

Nice different thing to try. I remember reading an article on this type of shot and they recommended to not move the camera in just a straight line but go up down, left right, zig zags, circles etc. I tried a few but was never happy with them

Well they make for some interesting abstract images (at least you don't have to worry about sharpness).
