It is clear that the second image is better than the first one. The rock fences at the bottom of the first are a bit dissonant and the lack of detail doesn't help either. However, the second one has the line of the horizon - if I make myself understand correctly - pushed a bit more up from the middle than it should making the sky to look without the necessary impact when this one is essencial in the comprehension of such a landscape. I also consider that a little brightness wound not harm the image without removing the mood of the scene.
