Based on the suggestions of our members, I decided to add this board to serve as our temporary repository while we are still working on our image gallery.
You are encouraged to share to us 5 of your best shots regardless of when did you take the shots. All types and genre of photography are welcome except nude as that is not allowed in the forum. You can post on either black and white or color. There are also no restriction on the type of camera used so even a pinhole or the latest digital camera back are welcome. Limit the size of your image to 1024px maximum width and 800px maximum height so members can easily view your images. Borders are welcome to use. At the bottom of each image, kindly include a maximum of two sentences as to why you chose that image as one of your best and what prompted you to take it. If you can still add the technical details about the camera model, the lens, ISO, Aperture and Shutter settings that would be very nice so others can learn from it.
This is for all the members so feel free to fill this space up. Comments about the images are very welcome but no critiques please. All 5 images should go together on one post so members would know that they are yours. Thank you.

To Start the ball rolling, here is my best 5 shots so far: No.1 - Empty Chair. Nikon D70, 31mm, ISO 400, f/4.5 at 1/4 second. This image was influenced by the song "empty chairs" by Don McLean. This was also the first image where I learned the value of learning through collaboration with other forum members from DGrin. No.2 - Devotion. Nikon D70, 48mm, ISO 320, f/5.6 at 1/320 second. I always love to capture those unguarded moments depicting human emotions. Love and affection is a very strong human emotion for me. No.3 - Delighted. Nikon D70, 70mm, ISO 200, f/8 at 1/250 second. I got lucky on this one capturing all those expressions from both the dolphin and the crowd. This was also one of the few black and white conversions that I did that I am very happy of the result. No.4 - Man on train station. Nikon D70, 18mm, ISO 800, f/8 at 1/13 second. I was after the dramatic lines on this one and also my 2nd try in capturing motion. I got lucky on the timing when I saw during the post processing that I captured one of the passengers of the train on a nice silhouette. No.5 - In Search of Lifeform. Nikon D70, 50mm, ISO 800, f/16 at 1/125 second. This was my first try at a full composite image. This was also my first attempt to fully develop a concept on my mind and combine specific images that would complete my vision.

OK here goes Willie ... No1 Not only is Lake Wolfgang one of my favourite destinations but this image is the first to win a competition for me. D70 Sigma 18-50 ISO200 1/200 f22 No2 Same place but much higher up! I'm particularly pleased with the edit on this one, and the depth that is conveyed. D70 Sigma 18-50 ISO 200 1/100 f13 No3 St Gilgen, Lake Wolfgang. It is the edit that pleases me again here and the fact that I managed to achieve what I envisaged when taking the shot. D70 Sigma 18-50 ISO 200 1/160 f16 No4 Salzburg Cathedral. D70 flat on its back with self timer, and I was lucky enough to get everything lined up pretty well so that only minor cropping was required. Sigma 18-50 ISO640 1/15 f5 No5 Lake Wolfgang again, and all the luck in the world to be in the right place at the right time as the low cloud parted. D70 Nikkor 28-80 ISO 200 1/125 f8

Awesome! This is my first time to see some of your shots, Mike. Is it just pure coincidence that we both use an old, obsolete NikonD70? Hahaha! Just kidding. Hats off to you, bro'. These images are really breathtaking and an eye candy for me. Thanks for sharing!

Is it just pure coincidence that we both use an old, obsolete NikonD70? Thanks Willie. I have a D2Xs as well but the old D70 comes out regularly and I still love using it. 6Mp is plenty for the web. I have some better lenses now but I think the little Sigma I used for most of these well under £100.

these are not my best (I wouldn't know how to pick them), so I just picked five that mean something to me, but at the same time are, I think, also very good. This recent one, because it's the best grab shot I have ever taken, or are likely to. This one is just about the most simple shot I have ever taken. It's a stream of tap water in my kitchen, with a black backdrop. This one because I love doing floral shots and getting the light right is tricky. I came pretty close to getting it just right here (shot indoors with studio light) It's also very pretty. This one is some old slate mines in North Wales. Included because the composition breaks the rules, but really works, none-the-less. I think! This one's from my 'eggistential' series. I just love the forms and shapes. I must do more of these. looks better on lightbox. Actually, they all do.

Your 'lifeform' makes me laugh every time I see it. Really good. But I think the train station is better - excellent composition and style.

Great shots, Rob. That really shows how broad is the scope of your photography. I agree with you about the floral shot. I also find it very difficult and challenging to control the light with it. Some flowers comes out sharp and some are only so-so even if the setup are the same. Makes me always scratch my head in confusion. i think you need to resurrect your eggsistentialist work as it is quite unique with an erotic twist. Hahaha! Glad you jumped in, Rob.

Mike
your #4 (roof) is one of the best symmetry shots I have seen. But I'm drawn more to #5 - it has such mystery. Eesh! I'm glad this isn't a comp!

Thanks Rob. It's good to see some of my favourite shots of yours again. I also share your view on the 'train' shot. The processing is excellent too.

Willie, like Rob, you show a great imagination when either framing or compiling a shot. Your processing's not bad either!! ;D
