This is the view north from just below the summit of Pen y Fan (highest mountain in South Wales). Not a particuly clear day as there was still a lot of haze in the distance. Nikon D700, f8, 1/200sec, ISO200, Sigma 12-24 Lens at 14mm.

But the haze adds atmospheric mood! just breathtakingly gorgeous! It seems to me (but I'm guessing you've already checked it) that it needs a very slight ccw rotation? but, then, the sheep might slide off the hill if you do that....

No problems with the sheep in Wales, they have two shorter feet on one side so that they can traverse the mountains around here whilst grazing ;D.
As for rotating the image, the darker cloud level looks level, so maybe it is all of the curves within the image giving a optical illusion. Be interesting to see what others think.

Nicely done Barry! Usually the haze bothers me some but here it looks quite natural. As for the horizon, I think it is an illusion. The center appears to be a little higher and both right an left drop off equally. If anything maybe a little fisheye thing but I don't think so just the shape of the land?

Barry, That is very nice - terrific job. I'm out of puff just thinking about that climb. The horizon thing looks like simple lens barrel distortion. At 14mm on a full frame - and given the position of the horizon - entirely to be expected.

Thanks for your comments, I do wonder if the Nikon version of this lens would preform any better, considering it is twice the money.

Barry, Don't go changing lenses to reduce distortion. They ALL have distortion - especially zooms - it's just part of the compromises to be made in practical commercial lens design. FWIW I get rid of this type of distortion automatically using DXO lens correction modules - which work brilliantly. Lightroom and Photoshop also have that functionality.
