This thunderhead had been building for well over an hour and I was planning to make a good sunset shot anyway, but when I got down to the bayou, a huge wind shear just sucked the right side of the cloud mass into what took on the appearance of a sandstorm right out of "The Mummy." I really had to work to get the effect of the shear to look exactly as I saw it. I did it using a B&W adjustment layer and changing the blend mode to Luminosity, pushing up the magenta slider and backing off the yellow and red. I also played with the cyan and blue sliders, though painted out their effects within the cloud structure. Later, I did a color cast removal to polish off the overall effect. Now, I've looked at it so long, I don't know what to think. Any suggestions?

Looks very impressive heading right for you, with good reflections in water. I think I prefer the left side of the clouds, as they look as if they are bubbling up. 'The Mummy' and 'The Mummy Returns' two good films

I think you have done a great job with this. There is lots of wonderful detail still in the cloud, the colours are subtle and the trees below don't distract from the main event. And a more than half decent reflection to go with it. The only thing I might consider and it's a wee thing really, is to clone out the two tiny white dots on the water.

I'm so used to seeing those silly bouys out there, I forget how distracting they can be..easy fix.
