Actually, not quite accurate as it was made standing just beside and a bit below the bridge, but it is a narrow one-laner and I would have had to run like a rabbit if a large truck happened along. This river runs West/East along the Wairau Valley in Marlborough, New Zealand. If you click the image, you should go to flickr, where it is on the map. It is a reasonably remote area and yesterday evening, when we did the return trip from Wairau Village to St Arnaud and back, a journey of 140kms, we only saw 5 vehicles the whole trip. The river is typical of the large South Island valley rivers in that it is braided and changes its multiple channels like we change our socks. The river beds are always very stony and during floods, you can hear the boulders crashing and rumbling along the river bed. If you go to the same spot on Google Maps and look at the street view, you can see that there must have been floods through the area that have washed away a whole bunch of trees and an old bridge abutment. I would have liked to present a slightly higher viewpoint to show more of the channels in the distance but sadly, levitation is not on my list of skills. The actual image is a stitched multiple of five, with the camera held in the portrait position. I quite like the seeming expanse that this gives. Enjoy.

P.S. Clicking on the image does not take you to flickr, as I have lost the knack of making a live link. Duh.

Awesome POV and sharpness, Kit. From a personal reaction, it looks a little bit "static" to me as the horizon is too close to the middle of the frame. I am inclined to suggest to sacrifice a little bit of the sky to put the horizon on the upper third composition. Nice find on the location and again an awesome shot.

Thanks, Willie. I did consider a crop as you suggested, but I so like those clouds. But maybe a small sacrifice will help the image along.
