I would like to receive notification e-mails every time someone posts on a thread I started or where I have posted. I have followed the instructions I found somewhere. I remember one by Willie and another by Steve. But no, that doesn't work. More: If I am in a thread I started and I make a subscription when I return there the next ten seconds, I am not subscribed any more. Why isn't this simply a default ? Why when someone starts a thread or answers one, the notification e-mail is not automatic? Wouldn't it be more practical ? Thank you guys. I must remember where I started this tread to come back and read any answer soon. And now I have checked the "Check this box if you wish..." Let's see what is going to happen.

I think I know whatvyou mean Antonio, I would like to be able to return to threads I have posted in, to join in conversations later, particularly with me being down here, most others post overnight my time. I have just joined today and am yet to learn all the bells & whistles, but hopefully in time I will catch on. My first aim is to figure out the blue vs green camera, then I'll go from there...

Well, at least with the little box ON I was notified. That is something good, so far.

And how about clicking on the link of the e-mail and go all the way down to the last post ? This Antonio is a pain in the ass. Is this correct ? I mean the sentence and the English. Or is it English-American ?

My first aim is to figure out the blue vs green camera, then I'll go from there... Easiest first - the green lens means that there are new threads on that board since your last visit and the blue means there are no new posts since the last visit. I am really glad that you managed to join us Kay Antonio I must admit I do not use e-mail notifications it drives me round the outhouse. However I do see why it is useful to some. I will see if I can find anymore about it

I must admit I do not use e-mail notifications it drives me round the outhouse. However I do see why it is useful to some. I will see if I can find anymore about it On other fora, it's an option in one's profile - switch it ON/OFF. It isn't an option on our profiles. But perhaps in can be activated? Of course it may be that ProBoards don't want zillions of emails going out through their server. Understandable, as we are not the only users.

Please follow the instructions below. If it works I will post as a separate tutorial. THE LONG METHOD (IF BOOKMARKING A THREAD THAT YOU ARE NOT REPLYING TO)1. In the thread you wish to bookmark click the bookmark control 2. Go to your profile 3. Select 'Bookmarks' from the profile menu 4. From within your profile page click the 'Manage Bookmarks' control 5. In the manage bookmarks page use the toggle boxes to mark the threads for which you want to have e-mail notification of. In the drop down box adjacent select 'email' and at the bottom of the page make sure the drop down control is set to email. Click the control 'Update Bookmarks and Preferences...and thats it THE SHORT METHOD (IF YOU WANT TO BOOKMARK AND REPLY TO A POST)When replying to a post I have now provided you with the option to manage your bookmark from within the reply dialog. Simply check the box to the left to book mark the thread and then click the (new) menu item 'Manage Bookmarks'. This opens your bookmarks in a new window/tab

Thank you, thank you next silly questions are What do the flame symbol and wee red thing symbol mean on the folders on the left? And I have bookmarked a thread that I posted in, so I can use this guide to find it....just as well my memory is not what it used to be!

The red thingy, I think its a map pin, shows that the thread has been made a sticky. The firey folder means more than 10 posts have been made to the thread. A bit meaningless really because you can see the number of post in any case. I may alter these at a later date...

That was a good tutorial, Steve. Thanks for doing it and for posting. Yes, thank you so much Steve In fact all of that was already done but it was very good to see a confirmation. I will ask no more questions. I understand you have lots of patience.
