This was the view I had as I came down the mountain. I took this before I took the series of flowers. _MG_9097m by mariehass, on Flickr Does it work? Is it blah, trite, done too many times before?

Very nice light in amongst the trees - where the mist is. I think had you moved the camera down slightly and got a little more ground and a little less sky it would have improved the composition. Is this where you live? It's a pretty looking part of the world.

Me thinks a nice B&W treatment might be the path to righteousness or a more dynamic image, as it may be. Cropped out the pole on the left and a lot of the sky as it tended to being blown out on the far right.

I like the colour version better I think. The B&W has made it look eerie which is the opposit from the feel I get from the colour version. The soft light and warm tones make me want to walk there and soak up the atmosphere, smell the smells, hear the sounds.
It is missing some foreground to balance it a bit and lead your eye to the nice light but Rob has already said that.

This is the same image, SOOC and uncropped. As you can see, there is a road at the bottom of the hill. Should I clone out the road and make it look like a meadow? _MG_9097m2 by mariehass, on Flickr Thanks, 'Rie

Hi, Nick!
It's neat how everyone interprets pictures in different ways. I see you pushed the blue slider to make the image cooler. I am also tempted to do a pano crop, but to also clone out the road at the bottom? The original picture follows the rule of thirds
Rob, yes, this is where I live. I am 4 miles from the main road, back a gravel road. Half of the travel is hairpins and the other half follows the creek bed. In this picture, I am almost done with my descent and will bear to the left to cross the creek. The road winds around behind the foreground trees to follow the creek.

Many of my pictures are taken along this 4 mile stretch, from top to bottom. This is a picture of Possum Creek in one spot. _MG_9820m by mariehass, on Flickr 'Rie

I actually like the road at the bottom, as for me it gives a bit more context to the image - here's a misty morning and there's the road that takes the traveller...where? I also like the warmer treatment, but Nick's crop appeals more than the original with that amount of sky. As far as "blah, trite, done too many times before" goes, I suppose there is very little that has not been done to death over the years, especially since the advent of reasonably cheap DSLRs. I sometimes get discouraged about that, but then a new scene or a new (for me!) idea pops up and click, click, click.

Thanks, Kit
Sometimes, when it comes to landscapes, I guess because I do not often do them, I get rather insecure.
Thank you for your comment. It is very true to how I feel also.
