Like you and Wirefox, Paul, I like the last one as well, but not sure it will fly for that type of presentation - too family oriented. I went with the bold color nanner that I redid using more noise reduction in the luminosity slider and using the contrast tonal controls in CEP4 as shown earlier by Steve. Managed a tad more boost in the shadows.
Thanks to everyone who voted on all my weekend's lunacy.
I wish I could get some more feedback on my stuff shot in Gainesville later that day.

That's TOO boot and you're right, I am! Don't be misled, Mary. "To boot" is correct. "Boot" in this case comes from Old English bot, meaning help, reiief, advantage or making better. Chris might have been making a joke based on his students' usage. No doubt people confuse the modern meaning of the phrase with the word "too". Others may simply be making a typographical error. In any case, the usage "too boot" appears to be widespread, and may well be destined to enter the dictionaries, but it is not there yet. Please forgive my little lecture. Language is my profession and it is my business to know both how language is used and how it should be used in various contexts. Language is a slippery thing, in constant evolution and, for that reason and more, I do not ordinarily correct other people's usage. But be warned: I am liable to come down hard on people who correct other people and get it wrong. To spare me having to play the role of the old school marm, I would like to suggest that, before anyone presumes to correct anyone else's language, they consult an online dictionary like this one: www.onelook.com/. In fact, I would like it to be a FSC rule, and this link included as a resource. I'm still mulling what the punishment for a breach should be; suggestions welcome. |

Thank you, Janis.  I must say, I had never seen it written as 'too boot'. Home educating my boys through high school graduation, brought me a lot of English and grammar... but I'm no grammar Nazi... even though I was born in Germany. But, then I remembered. Chris was older, a teacher after all... surely he knew more than me. |
