Twenty centimetres of it over 24 hours. But with hurricanes to the east and earthquakes to the west, who can complain about a little dusting of snow?

As much as I like snow....I hope we get very little this year. I am already cold looking at your image!

Oh, but it's not cold enough to freeze the camera batteries yet. Stella and I just came in from a lovely two-and-a-half hour photo walk, followed by fifteen more minutes of shoveling and we're not suffering at all.

Jan...please don't. The vision is nightmarish. You do realise here in the UK 2 inches (50mm ) of snow brings the countries infrastructure to a stand still. If you want to invade the UK forget bombs, we love those, just bring along a snow machine and we will be begging for unconditional surrender in twenty four hours. 2 inches of snow triggers panic buying, grannies fighting over tins of corned beef in the supermarket isles...bloodshed at the deli counter and the agonising slow torture of standing at the checkout for more than 8 hours....and another thing does anyone else find those automatic checkouts unfathomable or is it just me

It's because you move the item past the scanner and it suspects you're trying to filch a tin of corned beef. These are smart machines, Stevie and one cannot best them.
I saw a guy in a hurry at Home Despot (not a misspeling, that's what I call it) and suggested their clerkless checkout and he got so frustrated, he busted the machine with a large piece of lumber. I slinked away before he recognized it was me who suggested the vile machine.

Janis Nice scene. When you shoot in snow you need to over-expose a little as the camera thinks things are too bright (which they aren't really) and tones down the exposure. You can normally increase the WB a little too, which makes it look more inviting. I did a quick edit.

Thanks, Rob. I generally do over-expose by .7 or so, but might not have in this case. By increase the white balance, do you mean make it warmer? Ah ha, trying to take the chill off, are you? Are the Welsh no hardier than the English? But thanks for the edit; the image is much improved.
