OK Dave, I'll bite. Given my previous with benches I am a bit at a loss to say why I don't like this particularly. Having given it a coat of looking at – this is what I've come up with. As a rule I'm not a fan of vignette – and this is no exception – I find this example very heavy handed. I find the bench a bit too central in the composition – although that may be dictated by the vision you wish to convey in your title – fair enough. I find the upper left way too powerful and overbearing – especially the bright parts of the log. Also the bright, thin horizontal – lower down on the left is also distracting. Sorry to sound so negative – but the picture is way too good to just ignore.  |
