I have to confess that I took very few photographs on my first visit to Sarnia. In fact Seri and I left our cameras at home most days. It was by far enough just to be be together on such a beautiful island. This one was taken handheld at dawn. We were out most days before dawn heading to the coast to watch the sunrise and then on to walk until the sun became too hot. It is a land of neolithic tombs, cliff paths, deserted beaches, heathland and winding narrow lanes in shaded valleys and Seri made it my home too. I will be going back at the beginning of October for a few days and we do have some photography plans :-) She has shown me the greatest sign of trust in that she allowed me the use of her lenses...I selected a white one ;-) because I am shallow and a incorrigible poser :-)

I am so happy that everything worked out!!!! Beautiful pictures, and welcome back my friend. Please give Seri my regards. I am missing the two of you terribly.

Well now, I was going to have a pop about you doing "real" photography or some such clap trap. As it happens I like the picture - but that is of no moment. Like 'Rie, I am so pleased to hear that you've both had a super time together. Please give Seri my best wishes. Oh, and take care of yourself - we've all put a lot of work in on you - starting over on a new model would be a little trying.

Gorgeous colour in that photo, Steve. You are so lucky to have Seri as your guide to the islands... I look forward to seeing more from your trip in October.

Where the heck is Sarnia?

In the group of islands along with Jersey and Guernsey, virtually France really.
Nice pic Steve, surely it's not the only one. Did the local ale not get your psychedelic juices flowing?

Sarnia is generally thought to be the Roman name for the island of Guernsey, though it seems there is some debate about that, with some thinking that it was the Roman name for Sark, another of the Channel Islands. (I just read that last bit on Wikipedia.)

Aha, I thought as much but didn't want to make a silly comment based on guesswork - hey, not that I haven't traveled that road before.

Thank-you all and I will certainly pass on my best wishes.
I didn't think too much about photography when there last but Seri is very interested in night photography (or am I being naive :-) ) It is only a short stay in October but already talk of night shoots and hurrying back to an open fire.
I will try to be in a more photographic mood...but no promises :-)
Look after yourselves all

In the group of islands along with Jersey and Guernsey, virtually France really. I deployed my red coat, buckled on my neck stock and claimed the island for the Empire. A few columns of Crapauds fell to my sturdy red line. A French eagle sits on the mantlepiece next to Winston Churchill novelty tissue dispenser and I can report without contradiction that Guernsey is nowhere near France :-) The locals just went about their business (banking) and seemed thoroughly unimpressed by the whole glorification of the British Empire thing ;-) Sent from my GT-I9100 using proboards

Sarnia... I would have guessed somewhere off the coast of Greece.
