"Muito cá de casa" is hard to translate but I would say it is some kind of "People from us" and the idea/concept is to show the work of poets, writers, artists and so on which are important to the Portuguese and local communities. Rita Melo - the young lady in this portrait - is an painter artist whose work with children is well known in Setubal. An exposition of her works along with those of the young people was held last Friday and I was there to make her photograph. She belongs now to my collection of portraits among with many others who have been in a similar situation. What do you think of this portrait ?

Her expression is intriguing, and I like the pose and lighting generally. If I am to be really critical, I find the small catch light on the lower cheekbone of the shadowed side of her face just takes my eye away from hers, but that's a cheap shot because I couldn't achieve anything this good.

I like this very much, Antonio. I am not in a position to offer a 'criticism', so I can only observe that the shadow cast by the nose kinda bothers me. It could very well be that that observation is without merit. I'm really enjoying this portrait series.

I would have bled the light on the (her right) side of the face allowing a softer shadow and omitting the highlight triangle of light.
