I was visiting another forum where someone had said that not only does a person have to learn how to take/make pictures; they also have to learn how to critique. I'm hesitant to critique a photograph, but here goes. #1 is really nice, nice tones and focus. The little bit of a sign on the wall in the upper left is unfortunate, as is the guy cut in half by the window frame. #2 just doesn't do anything for me. I assume that's a vignette that you've applied, and it's a bit distracting, especially in the lower right. Maybe a crop of most of the right, so as to give the front of the ice cream stand more prominence?

George, I value your words, Thank you for your critique. I can clone out the chopped portion of the sign on #1. Hadn't thought about the man being cut off.
On #2, I did struggle with this image a bit more, both compositionally and in the processing. Let me try again and see what I come up with.

Curious as to your settings on the top image. I have to agree w/George on the dissected figure on the left and unfortunately, the trashcan on the right. Some things are environmentally beyond our control. C'est la vie!

Hi, 'Rie. I quite like the second image, though I find the vignette a bit strong in the upper right. I frequented places like this as a kid, when they were as fresh and new as me, so I have quite an emotional response to the image.

I like #1, the texture really pop out... Maybe if you took from the left a little bit you also can have a perspective effect also so its so flat...
